David Gordon, board chair and associate editor of the Chippewa Valley Post, was elected vice president of the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors on Saturday (June 27) during the group’s annual conference held this year at the University of Missouri.
Gordon, a member of the ISWNE since 2001, will become the group’s president at its 2016 convention, to be held in Melbourne, Australia. He previously served on the organization’s board of directors for four years.
ISWNE’s mission statement (see www.iswne.org/about_us/mission/) includes promoting independent and wise editorial comment, news content and leadership in community newspapers worldwide, and fostering freedom of the press in all nations. It has members in all 50 of the United States as well as Canada, Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland and Australia.
