“We are pleased to announce that we are already in development of a program to train the Chippewa Valley hospitality industry on what to do when they see human trafficking happening on their properties. This program is a collaborative effort with Visit Eau Claire and the Eau Claire Police Department.
“The majority of human trafficking that happens in the area intersects with the hospitality industry and we believe that by training workers at area hotels to spot human trafficking and alert the authorities, we are making a statement that human trafficking is not the kind of business we want happening in our community.
“Human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world and affects almost 46 million people worldwide. In the United States, it is estimated that 300,000 children each year are sexually exploited with the average age of entry into human trafficking being 12 years old.”
