A 30-year friendship will be on display at Eau Claire’s L. E. Phillips Memorial Pubic Library on the evening of April 24th . . . and the public is invited.
Friends of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library will celebrate its 30th anniversary at the group’s annual meeting at 7 p.m. that day, in the Eau Claire Room on the Library’s lower level. The meeting is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
After a brief program at which the Friends will elect new board members and recognize its Distinguished Service Award recipient, guests will be invited to participate in the “Passport to the Library.” That activity encourages guests to visit stations around the building that highlight contributions that the Friends of the Library have made over the past 30 years.
Guests receive stamps at each station and completed passports can be turned in for a chance to win door prizes.
The Friends group has most recently been a part of funding the Dabble Box, a “do-it-yourself” makerspace where Library visitors can explore technology, arts, and crafts. Guests will be able to see demonstrations of equipment including printing a mug to take home.
Brenda Brant, board president of the Friends group, recently asked, rhetorically, “How many friends have you had for 30 years? How many of them have donated thousands of dollars to you and provided you with hundreds of hours of free labor—every year?”
She went on to note that “the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library is fortunate enough to have a friend like that in the Friends of the Library, and we invite you to help us celebrate our anniversary.”
