Friends of the L. E. Phillips Memorial Public Library will celebrate the group’s 30th anniversary with a members reception on Thursday, Feb. 23, ahead of a weekend public book sale scheduled for Feb. 24-26.
The Feb. 23 anniversary reception will be held on the lower level of the Library, from 6 to 8 p.m. It will include refreshments and early entry to the book sale.
The reception is open to current and new members. New and renewal memberships will be available at the door, starting at $10. They are also available online at the Friends’ website, www.ecpubliclibrary.info/become-a-friend/.
The weekend book sale will also be held on the Library’s lower level. It will feature a wide variety of non-fiction and adult fiction books, as well as children’s and young adult books, audio books, music CDs and DVDs. Prices for adult paperback books start at $1 and hardcover books start at $2, while children’s and young adult paperbacks and hardcover books start at 25 and 50 cents each, respectively.
The sale will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 24 and 25, and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Feb. 26. Bag sales on Feb. 25 and 26 will feature discount pricing.
The Library’s Friends group, organized in 1987, has enhanced and supported the Library through volunteer efforts and fundraising. It provides over $20,000 a year to the <Library for equipment, programming and services. The group also hosts events and supplies volunteers who give thousands of hours of time to the Library each year.
