Eau Claire County residents can recycle broken or unwanted strands of holiday lights at no cost, through Friday, Jan. 27.
Eau Claire County Recycling is providing the opportunity in recognition of America Recycles Day, which occurred on Nov. 15. Lights can be deposited in the main lobby of the Eau Claire County Courthouse, 721 Oxford Ave., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
The local efforts are part of a larger, statewide campaign, coordinated through the Associated Recyclers of Wisconsin, a nonprofit association that provides statewide leadership and advocacy on waste reduction and recycling.
“We appreciate the efforts residents take to recycle more and recycle the right way.” said Amanda Haffele, the county’s recycling coordinator . “America Recycles Day provides us an opportunity to remind residents about the economic and environmental benefits of recycling, including conservation of natural resources, tax relief and job growth.”
