Participants in a noontime walk in Phoenix Park next Wednesday (Sept. ) 7 will get not only exercise but also a discussion of healthy snacking.
The walk will be led by Janet McCann, a registered dietician at Mayo Clinic Health System. The free event is co-sponsored by the Eau Claire Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department.
The walk, part of Mayo’s “Healthy Trails: Noon Trailblazers” series, will run from noon to 1 p.m. Participants should meet at the walking bridge near the flags.
During the walk, McCann will focus on creating snacks for energy and health, and will be available to discuss food and nutrition questions with participants.
“Enjoying parks is a simple, free way to boost mental health and accomplish your fitness goals,” McCann said in a press release. “As we walk, we’ll talk about how healthy snacking habits can help support your overall health.”
Participants can choose their own distance and pace for the walk. No advance registration is required. More information is available by calling 715-839-5032, or by visiting the Eau Claire’s Classes and Events page at http://mayoclinichealthsystem.org/ for more information.
