What will an activist preacher from Milwaukee be doing at the Eau Claire Children’s Theater on a Sunday afternoon in late October?
Rev. Willie Brisco, president of MICAH (Milwaukee Inner-City Congregations Allied for Hope), will be here as the keynote speaker for JONAH’s ninth annual celebration and fund-raising event next Sunday (Oct. 23). “The Welcome Table” celebration will run from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Children’s Theater, 1814 Oxford Ave. in Eau Claire.
JONAH is a Chippewa Valley organization based in faith communities and focused on social justice issues. Founded in 2008, it encourages religious groups to look at common goals rather than at their differences.
MICAH is JONAH’s counterpart in the southeastern part of the state. Both groups are under the umbrella of WISDOM, the statewide organization that helps to provide focus and education on broad social justice issues.
Brisco’s topic will be “Lest We Forget.” Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the door. A silent auction, starting at 4 p.m., will precede the program and hors d’oeuvres will be available.
