This year's presentation of "The Past Passed Here" attracted a record number of fourth grade students, who supplemented their classroom study of Wisconsin history with a visit to Allen Park in Chippewa Falls. There, they took part in re-enactments of the local lumbering and fur trade eras that were part of that history. The contributed photo (above) shows an 18th century voyageur, Jean Pierre Ledoux (portrayed by Randy Bausert of Elgin, IL), displaying European manufactured goods brought to trade with Native Americans for their valuable furs and explaining why these items were so attractive for trade.
