Poverty and homelessness – and a looming funding crisis that threatens both temporary and sustainable housing for people in need of it – were the focus of a Monday evening forum that attracted some 60 community members to the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Panelists sketched a picture of Eau Claire County poverty that frequently goes unrecognized, and stressed the need for many more affordable housing units than are now available. .
