A virtual panel discussion of health and wellness implications of the coronavirus pandemic is scheduled for 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday (Apr. 9).
The discussion is sponsored by UW-Stout’s Honors College and Social Science department. It will feature experts representing diverse perspectives, and it is open to the public as well as to Honors College students.
Panelists include Dr. Alexandra Hall, physician and UW-Stout biology instructor; Jeff Sweat, UW-Stout professor of sociology; Andy Felton, UW-Stout assistant professor of rehabilitation and counseling; and Pilar Gerasimo, health journalist and author of The Healthy Deviant.

Among the topics the panel will discuss are specific characteristics of the COVID-19 disease, its uneven impacts across groups and places and connections between inequality and health. There will also be opportunities for questions and comments fom the audience.
“Hopefully this event helps to bring people together, even if virtually, to experience a sense of collective solidarity and to learn from the current crisis,” said Thomas Pearson, a professor in the Social Science department and assistant director of the Honors College.
