When Kate Beaton, an Eau Claire City Council member, heard that City Manager Dale Peters had proposed speeding up city action on affordable housing, she quickly backed the idea.
Peters’ suggested moving up by two years the expenditure of $200,000 to address affordable housing needs more rapidly. His plan drew support from council members and citizens at Tuesday’s council meeting, and the council went beyond Peters’ suggested expenditure.
The result: the first time the city has dealt this directly with affordable housing in its budget. For more details, click on the headline.
