At first glance, Fort IX – in Kaunas, Lithuania – appears to be an ideal place for spending a leisurely afternoon.
When the weather permits, children can be seen playing and climbing on the distinct hills and unusual structures. But looks can be deceiving, as a UW-Eau Claire student-faculty research team learned in July.
The women on that team were following in the footsteps of some almost unknown Russian female archaeologists from 60 years ago.
