Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) is providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medicines, according to a Mayo press release.
Specially designated receptacles, called Take Back Boxes, have been placed at MCHS locations in Eau Claire, La Crosse and Menomonie, as part of an initiative that received strong support from Mayo’s Opioid Stewardship Committee. The multidisciplinary committee worked with pharmacy staff to determine convenient locations for the boxes.

Recruiting more out-of-state students and expanding the cooperative research agreement with Mayo Clinic Health System are key elements in the future of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, according to Chancellor James C. Schmidt.
The chancellor talked about both topics when he spoke to
some 50 people at the UW-EC Emeriti Association luncheon last week at Wild Ridge
Country Club. He also discussed current and planned changes in the campus, the
importance of internships and study abroad and the need for students to learn
to listen to others whose ideas they disagree with.
Single payer health care coverage is an idea whose time hasn’t quite come, a local proponent of this approach said recently.
But that hasn’t stopped Dr. Steven Weiss from working hard to sell the idea and recruit support for it. Weiss said in a recent interview that moving to a single payer system would improve both access health care and, at least as important, the outcomes of that access.
