Happy Groundhog Day!
And happy birthday to the Chippewa Valley Post!!
Five years ago today (on Feb. 2, 2015) we officially launched the CVPost website. We joked then that we saw our shadows but plunged ahead regardless.
On a more serious note, in announcing that we were part of the Chippewa Valley media scene, we wrote that what appeared online that day was far from a finished product. It still is a work in progress, though we’ve come a long way in five years.
One of our goals has been to increase the amount of reporting on what’s happening in the nonprofit sector of the Chippewa Valley. One of our first stories was on a new approach being taken by United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley, and nonprofit coverage has been a big part of the more than 925 (and counting) stories we’ve posted over the past five years.
Community involvement needed
We wrote back in 2015 that we needed community involvement in this effort, and many of you have responded. We’ve run news articles as well as opinion and analysis pieces by a number of Chippewa Valley residents, and we’ve benefitted from the guidance of the people who have made the time to serve on our board of directors in these five years.
We’ve had less success with the request for feedback that we made back in 2015. We said then that we needed community input on the content of the website – both what appears there and what should be there. We’ve heard relatively little on those topics, or on the website’s general appearance.
We’ve also heard almost nothing from the community since we began to provide an opportunity to comment on some of the CVPost articles (including this one). If you have an opinion on some aspect of what we’re doing, we would love to know what it is.
We know there’s a lot of room for further growth, as we continue to pursue our goals of informing, engaging and connecting the various communities that make up our Chippewa Valley. We hope you’ll be part of the CVPost’s continuing journey.

Congratulations, Dave, on fighting the good fight for five years now. I know there were years of work before that in bringing your idea into reality.
For that you deserve much appreciation and respect.
