Plymouth Congregational UCC has moved into its new building and will hold its first Sunday worship service there at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow.
The first event at the rebuilt church at 2010 Moholt Drive was a memorial service this afternoon.
The congregation has been worshipping at Grace Lutheran Church since a lightning strike in September, 2016 ignited a fire that destroyed the existing building. The new church is located on the site of the building that burned.
The church received its occupancy permit for the new building last Monday, and completed its move on Thursday when phone and Internet connections were made. Church members spent many hours getting the building set up for the weekend events.
Rev. David Huber, the church’s pastor, wrote in a Facebook post today that “so many people this week have gone above and beyond to make sure our building is beautiful, our yards are good looking, the sanctuary is decorated beautifully, and the whole campus is lit with the spirit of welcome and friendliness.”
Earlier, in a post on Wednesday, he wrote: “What a blessing to have a lovely new building and to be home!”
The only item still to be moved is the church’s copier, which will be taken to the new building on Monday. And the church’s website remains to be updated, to catch up with the move “home.”
