Free camping at Eau Claire County’s Coon Fork Lake Park is available on a first-come, first-served basis this coming Friday and Saturday (May 13 and 14).
The Eau Claire County Board approved the free camping opportunity to encourage families and individuals to explore the 108-site campground and day-use area, according to a press release from the county Parks and Forest Department. The county park is located east of the city of Augusta, at E25501 County Highway CF.
All campers must check in at the campground office prior to occupying a site. No camping fees will be charged but campers must pay $5 a night for sites where electricity is provided. No reservations are being accepted for these two days, although those made prior to the County Board’s action will be honored.
Firewood, ice, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and paddle and row boat rentals will be available for a fee. Questions can be directed to the Eau Claire County Parks and Forest Department at (715) 839-4783.
