Flu shots will be available to the public at six Eau Claire County schools, beginning next Wednesday evening (Oct. 10).
The immunization clinics are being offered by the City-County Health Department. A seventh clinic is scheduled for the conference rooms at the Eau Claire Indoor Sports Center, 3456 Craig Rd., this coming Monday (Oct. 8) from 3 to 7 p.m.
Through a grant to the Health Department, students under the age of 19 can receive their shot at no cost. Adults will pay $44 if they get their shots at one of the clinics.
Shots available in convenient locations
“By partnering with the school districts, we are able to offer an opportunity for the public to receive their flu shot in a convenient location,” said Patricia Reis, a public health nurse with the department.
The clinics are scheduled during part of the school day, as well as after school hours for parents who prefer to be present when their children get their flu shot, or who want immunizations themselves, according to a Health Department press release.
Mary Ann Hardebeck, Eau Claire Area School District superintendent, said that “tending to the well-being of our students is one of our most important responsibilities. We are pleased to be in partnership with the Health Department in helping families to keep their children healthy and safe this flu season.”
