The Eau Claire Area Master Gardeners group has invited the public to its Aug. 20 meeting to hear a presentation on the various pollinators that are common to gardens in this area.
Sherry Sprague, who has been a Master Gardener since 2004, will speak at the 6:30 p.m. program a the Eau Claire County UW-Extension office at 227 W. First St. in Altoona. Snacks and door prizes will be provided.
Sprague has been a volunteer at the Beaver Creek Reserve for many years and has been coordinator of the butterfly house there for the past three years. She also heads up Beaver Creek’s annual plant sale.
Sprague will discuss how best to prepare gardens for overwintering pollinators, according to a press release from the local Eau Claire County Extension office. She will also talk about animals and the insects other than bees that aid in the pollination process despite often not being considered as primary pollinators.
