A public informational session about the Project SEARCH high school transition program will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 12 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
The program helps prepare young people with significant disabilities to work successfully in integrated, competitive employment. It is a business-led, one-year school to work program that takes place entirely in the workplace.
Project SEARCH, based at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, provides real-life work experience combined with training in employability and independent living skills. Its goal is to help youth with significant disabilities make successful transitions from school to productive adult life and to secure competitive employment for each student who participates.
The program’s administrative team oversees a large international network of program sites. More information about the program, which began in 1996, is available at https://www.projectsearch.us/.
The Nov. 12 program, hosted by Project SEARCH – Eau Claire, will begin with a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the Luther campus auditorium on the lower level of the building at 1221 Whipple St.. This will be followed by an informational presentation and a tour. Applications for the 2019-2020 school year program will be available at the meeting.
Free parking is available in the Mayo parking ramp.
