A series of free concerts live-streamed from the Pablo Center at the Confluence has four more concerts on its schedule from July 16 through Aug. 6.
The summer series got underway Thursday evening with an opening performance featuring Naalia and Jerrika Mighelle.
“Although the stages have been dark due to COVID-19, new partnerships and a shift toward digital platforms provide new outlets to share the arts and bring entertainment to the Chippewa Valley and beyond,” the Center said in a press release.
“Throughout the summer, lineups of two or more artists will take the stage in Jamf Theatre and will be broadcast via the Perigon webcasting service,” the press release added. This will provide “a local alternative for a community missing out on canceled in-person concerts and festivals.”
Director of Artistic Programming Evan Middlesworth said the need to adapt to virtual performances provides opportunities for the Pablo Center to continue to innovate.
“Limitations inspire creativity and we’re excited to showcase the flexibility of our building and the creative-thinking of our staff to provide an outlet for artists,” he said.
This “Pablo Streams” series highlights local voices and groups from the Minneapolis and Eau Claire areas. The remaining performances, all at 6:30 p.m., will feature LASKA and Sniffle Party on July 16; Samantha Moon and Irie Sol on July 24; Humbird, The Nunnery and Poe Yoni on July 30; and Michael Perry and S. Carey on Aug. 6, sponsored by M3.
Perigon, the webcasting service behind Pablo Streams, was created by WIN Technology based in Eau Claire. Through Pablo Center’s partnership with WIN Technology, audiences will experience streaming performances with such high production values and quality features as transitions, multiple camera angles and sound sources, according to the press release.
Pablo Center will showcase the artists performing in the Jamf Theatre using eight different camera angles across two stages.
Registration to watch the virtual concerts can be completed at pablocenter.org. Upon registering, an individual link for the event – to be sent via email – will provide access to the live stream. Audience members wishing to support artists may do so through the use of a virtual tip jar.
