A remodeled cancer care center inside HSHS Sacred Heart hospital will open officially for patient care on Tuesday, Sept. 4, according to an announcement from Prevea Health.
The public is invited to the center’s grand opening event from 4 to 6 p.m. the following day. Along with tours, the Sept. 5 celebration will feature food, refreshments, giveaways and the opportunity to meet the center’s cancer care experts.
Prevea has been providing cancer care at Sacred Heart, 900 W. Clairemont Ave., since 2016 according to its president and CEO, Dr. Ashok Rea.
“We look forward to doing so for many more years to come,” Rea added in a press release. That care will now be offered “in a more updated, spacious environment.”
The center will feature eight state-of-the-art exam rooms, 11 infusion rooms, a lounge area that will offer snacks and refreshments and an expanded healing garden. A newly-formed team of oncology nurse navigators will be added to the cancer center’s medical team to assist patients with coordinating every aspect of their care, according to the press release.
The new cancer center will also offer a cancer survivorship program featuring music, art, yoga and other therapy services. It is accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a comprehensive community cancer center. More information is available at www.prevea.com/cancer.
