A silent vigil in support of those who are suffering in Ukraine and their relatives and families locally is planned for Friday (Mar. 4) from 5:30 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd.
The event is sponsored by JONAH’s religious leaders caucus, an interfaith group from throughout the Eau Claire area. A press release from the group describes JONAH as a local grassroots organization with a focus on social justice and a mission based on peace.
All members of the public who support peace are welcome to attend.
The organizers have asked that attendees at the vigil wear yellow and blue, the colors of the Ukraine flag, and bring a candle. Some candles will be available at the vigil.
JONAH clergy will open the event with interfaith prayers followed by a period of silence. Then vigil will close with songs and prayers.
The vigil will be held on the east side of the Trinity Lutheran parking lot near Trimble Street. Participants are asked to park on the west side of the lot.
