Two new rural Dunn County mobile food bank locations have been established in a cooperative effort between Stepping Stones of Dunn County and Eau Claire’s Feed My people Food Bank.
Starting on June 27, these “pop-up pantries” will be available on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. They will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at New Hope Lutheran Church, N2648 460th St. in Downsville; and from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Viking Bowl, N8590 State Road 40 in Colfax.
Previously opened pantries will continue to operate from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Arts Building in Sand Creek, E9311 County Road I; and from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Ridgeland Community Center, 200 Diamond St.
Patrons are asked to bring their own bags or boxes to carry the food they pick up.The two new sites will “act as a supplemental food source to families and individuals in rural Dunn County who face hunger and have limited access to a food pantry in their immediate area,” according to a press release from Stepping Stones.
More information is available from Kris Pawlowski, Stepping Stones’ assistant director and food pantry coordinator. She can be reached at foodpantry@steppingstonesdc.org.
Stepping Stones works to “strengthen the Dunn County Community by providing food, shelter and support” where they are needed, according to its mission statement.
