The Valley Gospel Choir’s concert on Sunday (Jan. 31) will help support Chippewa Valley Habitat for Humanity, with all proceeds going to benefit local families with housing needs.
The concert is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Boulevard. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Advance purchases may be made at the church and at Gordy’s County Market on W. Clairemont Avenue.
The Valley Gospel choir is a local choir with more than 100 voices, many of whom are charter members. It was formed here in the spring of 1992 to perform at Country Jam, as part of the Sunday morning events.
Since 2006 the Choir has been directed by Merlyn Aude, who brought decades of experience in music and education when he joined the Choir. Aude also added a band to accompany the Choir.
The concert is co-sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and Trinity Lutheran Church. Erik Larson, volunteer coordinator for Habitat for Humanity, urged people to “come join the fun for a good cause. It will be a great way to warm up this winter.”
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, international and non-governmental organization founded in 1976 and devoted to building “simple, decent and affordable housing.” It describes itself as a “Christian housing ministry.”
