The Community Table has a unique problem.
More food than it can deal with, and it’s asking the public to help out between 2 and 4 p.m. today (Sunday) by picking up free produce.
Two pallets – more than 3,000 pounds of food – were unexpectedly delivered to The Community Table (TCT) Friday night, and the organization has no place to store it.
Michelle Koehn, the organization’s executive director, sent an email request Saturday morning to Chippewa Valley media, asking that they let the public know of the opportunity to stop by and take some of the fresh produce home.
“You’d be helping us out!,” she wrote.
Koehn said that TCT has “no place to store the food and there isn’t enough room in our kitchen to move around and cook” with the unanticipated food in the way.
“Help us with this unique challenge and share in our gifts with us,” Koehn added.
The Community Table, which serves one meal a day on a “no questions asked” basis, is located at 320 Putnam St. in Eau Claire.
