Students from SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) groups at all six Eau Claire County high schools will participate in training sessions Tuesday to learn how they can help reduce underage drinking and other drug use, and prevent prescription drug abuse.
The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention is hosting the training, which will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Best Western Trail Lodge & Suites, 3340 Mondovi Rd. in Eau Claire. Participating high schools are Altoona, Augusta. Eau Claire Memorial, Eau Claire North, Fall Creek and Regis.
Students will learn about the community factors that influence alcohol and druguse, the impact of that use on the teen brain, and the implications of underage drinking and prescription drug misuse. The training is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to be effective advocates for reducing and preventing youth alcohol and other drug use in Eau Claire County.
