A special Sesame Street program designed to help parents and caregivers talk with children about race and racism will be broadcast by PBS Wisconsin four times starting today and ending on Sunday.
“The Power of We: A Sesame Street Special” is scheduled to air at 10 a.m. and noon today, at 8 a.m. on Saturday and at 6 a.m. on Sunday. The program “will address racism and model how children can stand up to it,” according to a press release.
The program is designed as a co-viewing experience for children and families. It is one of two PBS programs this month intended to help start age-appropriate conversations about race and racism.
The second program, “PBS KIDS Talk About: Race and Racism” features children and their parents talking about race and racial justice-related topics and will offer ideas that viewers can build on to continue the conversations at home. A full episode of the program can be seen online here.
