United Way of Dunn County will offer free winter clothing for those in need of it from Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 31 at Marketplace Foods, 207 Pine Ave. W. in Menomonie.
The Winter Wear Open House will be located at the former bank site at the front of the store. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the first three days and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31.
All items available will be new or gently used, according to a United Way press release. All family members needing winter clothing must be present to receive it. Items will be available for all ages while supplies last.
Advance registration is available online at https://wwoh2020.eventcreate.com or by contacting United Way of Dunn County directly by phone at (715) 235-3800 or by email to ktrinko@uwaydunn.org.
Face masks will be required of all attending the open house. The press release also said that anyone who is feeling sick or who has had flu-like symptoms in the past 48 hours should stay home.
Jennifer Thatcher, executive director of United Way of Dunn County, urged the community to “unite this winter season for our neighbors to get the items needed to stay warm.”
Last year this event supplied more than 450 people with free winter coats. This year, the most-needed items are coats, jackets and boots, but all new or gently used winter clothing – anything warm – will be accepted.
Donations may be left by Monday (Oct. 26), at Menomonie Fleet Farm, 2003 Highway 12; the Menomonie Public Library, 600 Wolske Bay Rd.; or United Way’s C-3 Center, 1620 Stout Rd. Further information is available from Thatcher by phone at 715-235-3800 or via email jthatcher@uwaydunn.org.
